02The categories we use
| Category | What it does | Consent | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in, holds your search and basket between pages, and protects the checkout against fraud. | Always on | Session to 12 months |
| Functional | Remembers your currency, recent stations and accessibility preferences so you do not re-enter them. | Optional | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Tells us, in aggregate, which routes are searched and where booking journeys fail so we can fix them. | Optional | Up to 14 months |
| Marketing | Measures which campaigns lead to bookings and limits how often you see the same advertisement. | Optional | Up to 13 months |
03Your choices
Optional cookies are off until you accept them. You can change your mind at any time through the cookie preferences link in the site footer, and the change takes effect immediately.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the booking flow from working — we cannot keep your basket or protect the checkout without them.
04Third-party cookies
Analytics and marketing cookies may be set by suppliers acting on our behalf under contract. They are only permitted to use the data for the purpose we have instructed. If you decline the analytics and marketing categories, these cookies are not set at all.
05Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends it, we treat that as an opt-out of analytics and marketing cookies without you needing to do anything else. Browser “Do Not Track” headers have no agreed standard meaning, so we do not rely on them alone.
06Changes and contact
We review this policy whenever we add or remove a supplier. For questions about cookies or to request the current detailed cookie inventory, email support@americatrak.com. See also our Privacy Policy.
